Summer Awakening - A Soulful Yoga Retreat in Wales

Black Mountains, Wales | 12 - 15 June 2026

The Llanthony Valley and Sugar Loaf mountain are jewels of the Black Mountains and between the two lies Forest Coalpit a magical valley with Fforest Barn at the end of the lane. Fforest barn fuses a 17th century oak beamed stone barn with an eco-friendly Dutch barn giving the feel of ancient Wales with total privacy and stunning views and walks in every direction.

About the retreat

Join Sally Talal for a soul-nourishing retreat in the heart of the Black Mountains, where stillness meets wild beauty and nature begins to hum with the energy of the approaching Summer Solstice.

This is a time of expansion and light - a sacred turning point in the year where we honour growth, gratitude, and the radiant fullness of life. Over four restorative days, you’ll be invited to pause, reconnect, and awaken to this vibrant seasonal energy within yourself.

Immerse in daily yoga, meditation, pranayama, sound healing, shaking medicine, and workshops, all designed to restore balance and awaken creativity. Wander the forest trails, breathe in the mountain air, and enjoy delicious vegetarian and vegan meals lovingly prepared to nourish from the inside out.

Between sessions, unwind with moments of quiet reflection, soak in the beauty of the valley, or share laughter with Tommy, Vincent, Julian, and Oran - the friendly resident alpacas who love to greet guests each afternoon.

This retreat is an invitation to return to your natural rhythm - to rest, realign, and open your heart to the light of the season.

Styles of Yoga:

Variety of yoga classes including Anusara Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Meditation, Yoga Nidra, Sound Healing, Pranayama / Breathwork and workshops.

This retreat is open to everyone! Beginner, intermediate, advanced.

Food Philosophy:

Nourished by our in-house chef, with homestyle cooking using local and organic produce wherever possible and the abundant choice of vegetables locally grown on Fforest Barn venue and its surrounds. You will be fed with love. All meals are served buffet style. You are welcome to use the kitchen to make your own juice, teas and coffees throughout the day.

Travel:

By Train

Fforest Barn is about 10 mins from Abergavenny train station. If you’re coming by train you go from Paddington to Newport, then change for Abergavenny. This should take max 2.5 hours. There are buses for under £15 to Newport, then take the train, or maybe bus all the way. There are also trains from Birmingham New Street, via Hereford.

If you need a taxi to/from Abergavenny call Shire Taxi 07495049595, or Peter at A Cabs on 01873 737736 / 07958 702208. This costs around £16 one way.

By Car

Wherever you are coming from head for Abergavenny. From London that means going on the M4, crossing the Severn Bridge, and turning off on junction 24 onto the A449. You’ll know when this junction is coming up because you’ll see the giant hotel The Celtic Manor Resort, on the hill in front of you. (Your GPS might want to take you to the next junction, which is OK but slower.) After about 10 miles turn left at Raglan onto the A40 signposted to Abergavenny.

If a few are coming by car, there is the option of carpooling - fun road trip!
