Sri Lanka Yoga Adventure
A Journey Through Nature, Spirit & Self
Sri Lanka, 5 Cities Retreat | 25 September - 5 October 2026 | 10 nights, 11 days
Step into a land where ancient temples whisper their stories through the jungle, where elephants roam freely across vast plains, and where the rhythm of life moves to the timeless pulse of the earth.
Sri Lanka - known as the Pearl of the Indian Ocean - is a place of profound beauty and deep spiritual heritage. It is the birthplace of ancient healing traditions, sacred Buddhist teachings, and rituals that honour balance between nature, body, and soul.
This journey is a soulful immersion through the island’s heart - from the misty mountains of Kandy and Ella, to the sacred rock citadel of Sigiriya, the wild sanctuary of Gal Oya National Park, and the serene shores of the South Coast. Each destination offers its own rhythm, inviting you to connect with the wisdom of the land, the kindness of its people, and the stillness within yourself.
We’ll move, breathe, and meditate daily - practicing yoga under open skies, surrounded by ancient forests and ocean breeze. Along the travels, experiences include authentic cultural encounters, wildlife safaris, hiking with the last Sri Lankan indigenous tribe, cooking with locals, optional surfing, and moments of stillness that awaken a sense of wonder and connection to life itself.
This is more than a retreat - it’s a pilgrimage of remembrance.
A journey of heart and spirit - a return to the essence of what it means to truly live, love, and embody life with kindness and grace.
Styles of Yoga
There will be daily practices of yoga classes including Anusara Hatha, Vinyasa, Yin, Meditation, Yoga Nidra, Pranayama / Breathwork, and other practices. Yoga props are provided in most venues. As some do not provide mats, please bring your travel yoga mat with you.
Food
Sri Lankan cuisine is a vibrant celebration of the island’s rich cultural tapestry - where ancient spice routes, local traditions, and an abundance of fresh ingredients come together in every meal. While it shares similarities with South Indian cooking, Sri Lankan food truly stands in its own light: colourful, fragrant, and deeply comforting. Expect a burst of vibrant flavours: rich coconut, bold chilli, fragrant curry leaves, sweet cinnamon, and aromatic garlic: all coming together in generous curries and irresistible snacks.
At the centre of every meal is the much-loved rice and curry, a traditional spread featuring an assortment of curries, lentils, and vegetable sides, often served with soft, roti-style flatbreads. With the island surrounded by ocean, fresh fish and seafood are also staples, typically prepared in coconut-based curries infused with herbs and spices.
Meals will be served buffet-style. Vegetarian, vegan, and most other dietary preferences can easily be accommodated; simply let me know in advance so we can make sure your meals are both satisfying and tailored to your needs.
Travel
You’ll arrive at Bandaranaike International Airport in Colombo, Sri Lanka. You’re welcome to land by 10 am on Day 1, or come earlier if you’d like to spend a few extra days exploring. If anyone prefers to arrive earlier, we’re happy to recommend nearby hotels.
A scheduled airport transfer will depart at 11 am from Colombo Bandaranaike International Airport to our accommodation in Sigiriya.
At the end of the trip, a return group transfer to the airport will be arranged on Day 11, typically arriving by 10:30am to the BIA airport. If you’d like to extend your stay or have an evening flight, additional nights can be organised, and a private taxi can be pre-booked for an extra fee.
✨ Flight options
There are frequent flights to Sri Lanka from major cities across the UK and Europe, including direct routes from London to Colombo with Sri Lankan Airlines.
✨ Visa Requirements
All travellers must obtain an Electronic Travel Authorisation (ETA) before entering Sri Lanka.
It’s a simple online application that takes only a few minutes.
You can apply here.
Visas are typically approved within 24–72 hours, but I recommend applying 2 weeks before travel for peace of mind.
(Please ensure your passport is valid for a minimum of 6 months from your date of entry).
✨ Tips for Long-Haul Flights
A few suggestions to help you arrive feeling refreshed and grounded:
-
Hydrate well before and during your flight
-
Wear layers for changing cabin temperatures
-
Bring a scarf or eye mask to help you sleep
-
Move or stretch gently every few hours to support circulation
✨ Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is required for all participants, as it helps ensure everyone’s safety and peace of mind. Your insurance should offer adequate cover for overseas medical treatment, evacuation/repatriation, your baggage and equipment, and the specific activities involved in your adventure. We also recommend ensuring your policy includes cancellation and curtailment cover, in case you're unable to join your trip due to unforeseen circumstances such as illness.
Standard travel insurance may not cover all the activities included in your adventure, so it's essential to check the details carefully. There are adventure-specific providers that many travellers have used in the past, such as True Traveller (for those based in the UK or Europe), or Rise + Shield, both of which offer cover for a wide range of adventurous activities.
✨ Vaccines
Recommended Vaccines through the GP / local clinic:
-
Hepatitis A
-
Hepatitis B
-
Typhoid
✨ Weather
Sri Lanka enjoys a tropical climate year-round. Coastal areas usually experience temperatures between 25–30°C, while the cooler highlands average 15–18°C. Because this journey covers several regions, you may experience a variety of weather patterns, from sunshine to short tropical showers. The island’s traditional monsoon seasons are becoming less predictable, so it’s best to expect mixed weather: plenty of sunshine, occasional rainfall, warm humidity, and bright blue skies. Bring rain protection and an adaptable attitude. Nature is part of the adventure!

Gratuity tips
Tipping
It is important to mention that a small gratuity is kindly suggested for our excursion guides, national tourist guide, drivers, and the hotel restaurant staff who help make your journey memorable. While tips are not included in the retreat price and remain entirely at your discretion, it is customary to offer them in appreciation of good service.
We recommend the following minimum contributions for the whole trip:
-
£35 per traveller - this will be collected in Sri Lankan Rupees upon arrival and pooled to ensure fair and transparent distribution among the local service providers who support the group throughout the retreat. This amount will be handed to the guides at the end of each excursion, in the presence of the group, as a token of gratitude for their dedicated service.
-
£10 for each member of the bus crew (usually one or two drivers) - to be handed personally by each traveller at the end of the trip.
-
£25 for the national tourist guide - also to be given individually by each traveller at the end of the trip.
Of course, you are free to offer more or less depending on your personal experience and satisfaction. Tipping is not compulsory, and should always reflect your appreciation for the quality of service received.
